Hi, I bought 4 young degus three weeks ago . Supposedly all brothers . I had my doubts about one . Now the three others are fighting, whilst the suspected female sits alone and 'pips' . I don't want baby degus. Can degus be safely neutered? And would the males stop fighting if the potential female is neutered?

If you're sure that one of them is indeed a female, I hope you've separated her already. Not only is she going to get pregnant but the males could end up killing each other.

Degus can be neutered but it's important that you got a vet with a lot of small animal experience. Spaying females is much more risky so I would just neuter the males. Either way, though, that's not a great male:female ratio so some fighting is still possible.
