Cat food for hairless hammie?

I was just reading that because hairless hamsters have high metabolisms, that giving them extra protein is important. The article recommended a few cat kibbles. Has anyone else heard of this? I want Smeagol to stay healthy, but I also don't want to give her something that will make her ill.

Thanks,

Suz

I've given cat food (and dog food) as a source of extra protein to mice (who are omnivorous) and pregnant hamster and gerbils with no problem. Offer them as a treat, like you would offer fruits or fatty foods.

Sounds good. I'll give it a try and see what she thinks. Thanks again for being helpful!

I never gave my hamsters cat food but I did have puppy food as part of their diet. I think small amounts should be fine .
