Chew toys

I got Smeagol (hammie) Bark Bites and other wood chew toys, and she has not shown the least interest in any of them. Do you all have recommendations? Maybe she has no need to chew on such things... but I would think it's a natural instinct.

Thanks.

chew toys

I've had a chew stick(looks like a little log) in her cage for 2 weeks and last night was the first time she went at it. Mine had a hole in the middle so I tied it to her cage. Maybe your's will get bored and decide like mine did. I found out she really likes the yogurt drops. I give her one a day. The first time I gave her one she put the hole thing in her mouth, shock me I didn't know they did that at the time and I even watched Chip and Dale when I was little!

My hamsters would chew on these:

They also liked these small chews that looked like alphabet blocks (I believe they're sold at Petco) and these flavored ones shaped like fruits.

Did you try flavored ones yet?

Non of mine have ever liked those wood chews and won't touch them, they prefer to chew kitchen roll tubes up for some reason I wouldn't worry too much all hammies are different just keep trying Smeagol with different things and you might find something she does like to chew on eventually

I tried bark bites for my degus and they won't chew on them, but they love branches off trees (we don't use pesticides in our yard, so I know they are safe) and cardboard boxes/toilet paper rolls. Must just be something about the bark bites.

As long as they are chewing on something, hamsters should be fine. Maybe try saving your next empty toilet baby roll and see if that goes over better?

Hey, thanks everyone! I always get good ideas here.

Yes, I tried the flavored ones. No interest. I'll try a toilet paper roll and see how she does. Thanks!
