Dwarf Hamster has ovarian fluid... few days to find help!
Hi, my little Chinese Dwarf Hamster Rosie has a build up of fluid in her ovaries. I noticed a large lump on her side/stomach before her back leg and then a smaller one on the other side. I took all 3 of my dwarfs for a check up the week before and neither myself or the vet noticed it then.
I have been away all week so my family took her to the vets again who said she has a build up of fluid in her ovaries. They gave me some baytril antibiotics and said if they work it should clear the fluid and she will discharge it. She's been on them about 8 days. The lumps are bigger than it was but seems to have gone down a little today. She was apparently not very lively on Friday and seemed down yesterday. I know she is too small to survive/undertake any operations. She has been passing some blood the last few days.
Does anyone know if this blood may be the infection starting to clear? Or of anything else that may help her? Obviously I don't want her to be in pain or god forbid for the fluid to burst. I am very aware that she has so little time left but am just hoping that someone may know of something that can help, or if she is starting to get better. She's 18 months old, so has only just reached the age where chinese dwarfs encounter problems. She is otherwise healthy despite having one quite poppy and one quite normal eye. I just hope the antibiotics work :'(
