Exclamation Hamster Biting!!!

my hamster bites
i'm not sure, but i think he's a white dwarf hamster
cause it's pretty small, and white (duh)
anyway i have no knowledge about his past cuz the owners left
and gave the hamsters to us
he's about a year old, i think, and is not shy at all
it runs about and gets very hyper but whenever he sights, or hears, a human coming near him
i think probably cuz he thinks the human's gonna give him food
and i do, whenever i approach him, i give him food
but when ever i just put my hand in there, he sniffs for a bit
then bites! not nibble, bite! and it hurts
i tried putting a treat in my hand then putting it in, but
he doesn't go for the food, after he's bitten me two times he
sees the food and eats it
wat do i do? i wanna hold my hamster so bad T^T

Your fingers probably smell like food. Either switch to holding long treats in your fingers and dropping them when he gets too close or only offer your fingers without the treats and after washing.

Dwarf Hamsters aren't naturally cuddly compared to the Syrian. Dwarves are a lot more nippy and hyper.

Wash your hands and pick him up properly. Dwarf hamsters won't stay still for very long so it's best to pick them up briefly and place them in an area for running around. Otherwise he'll try to escape your grasp. You can try to cuddle him but he's more likely to nibble on your face.
