Hamster Bleeding in Vaginal Area

I first noticed a few drops of blood , near the vaginal area, on my hamster Marshmallow (dwarf hamster) about 6 months ago. I read online that it maybe a menstrual thing. It did this for a day about once every 3-4 weeks. In the past month, the blood amount has increased to about the size of a quarter to half-dollar in size. I thought that it might be a bit of a rougher month for her. But instead of once a month it was about every week and a half. Last Friday it was a similar size. Three days later (Monday) it happened again. I took her to a vet that day, and he gave me antibiotics and some pain meds. Today (Weds) she is bleeding again (twice today...once at 4pm and again at 10pm). The vet told me that it may still bleed for a few days after. When she is bleeding she appears to be in pain. When she is not bleeding she is active when I hold her.

My question is this:
Does this much bleeding usually occur in a urinary infection, or is it likely something else? If it maybe surgery (perhaps hysterectomy) about (a guess) how much am I looking at?

I am sooo worried. I LOVE her so much, and I am really afraid that I won't be able to pay for it.

If anyone has faced similar problems, can you explain the process (hopefully success) you went through?

It can occur during a UTI, and it can be complicated by the fact that the bleeding went on for SO long without being untreated as the infection raged. She may have permanent damage to her urinary tract at this point.

Typically, bleeding from the vents occurs with urinary tract infections, certain types of cancer, and kidney/bladder stones. I would recommend getting an x-ray to rule out cancer and stones, just given the enormously long time this has occurred. I'm really surprised she's even alive after bleeding for 6 months.

Marshmallow Passed Away this Morning

She passed away this morning on my fiancee's belly. I picked her up at 3:30 am to give her her meds. She was limp. I knew then. She started moving sporadically (kinda like a fish). She passed away as I was on the phone freaking out to my mom.

Rest in Peace Marshmallow

Thanks. I really miss her! I am slowly getting to the point where I don't cry all the time. I am now, but it is a happy cry from the comments
She was a beautiful lil girl, and I miss her so much.
