hamster has bulging eyeball, coughing
My youngest son's hamster, Tuck, is obviously terribly ill, I think it's gonna die soon. We were caring for it well, but about two days ago, I discovered it's face appeared swollen on one side. It couldn't close the eye on that side. Now it is breathing with difficulty and noisily as though very congested. It also coughs occasionally. I have been putting an opthalmic ointment on its eyeball to try to keep it moist, but I can tell he already cannot see out of it. My son is only 6 years old and will be devastated if Tuck dies. Is there anything else I can do for the little critter?
