Long nails

My daughter has a dwarf hamster who is about 10 months old. Very recently, one of her front paws has grown VERY long nails. The paw seems a bit swollen as well.
Her other paws all seem normal.
We put some very small grit wet/dry paper on her wheel yesterday, but it does not seem to have had any effect.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

You can just clip the tips of her nails, with regular nail clippers. Just watch out for the quick, always have flour on hand incase it starts bleeding. Considering her size it may be best to have the vet do it if you dont feel comfortable.

Do you know why only ONE of her paws would grow such long nails?

I was likely to be injured before hand so she wasnt putting pressure on it

Thanks. I think RodentzRule is right. She must have injured it because she is still favoring it, so even though we tried the sandpaper and have clipped her nails (not too short), they are still growing since they aren't making contact with anything. Still not seeing any improvement with that paw though. But we are watching her closely.
Thanks again for the advice!
