More Gerbil color questions!

Okay. So I had bought my first two gerbils sometime fall last year. When I bought them, the male was almost a light orange. (as pictured below on the left)

...but now... he's completely switched to being more golden with a little brown mixed in ?? (pictured below)

So my question is... why is this? Any guesses? He appeared to be almost fully grown when I bought him... so I'd figured he'd be done changing colors.

Haha, thanks guys Now finding out that he's a Nutmeg... could you tell me what color the pups would be if I bred a Nutmeg and a Colorpoint Black (Burmese) Gerbil together? I had bought him and another Gerbil sometime last year and they bred. Their pups had turned out all black with a white chest and some white on their paws. ...Do you know what color they'll be after their done molting?

Black pups with stay black.
Gerbils that molt into different colours are Nutmegs and Colour Points (they develop their points). Others will molt a bit, but not drastic.
