My adoped gerbil is a little strange...

This forum won't let me post pictures . You can
So I adopted a gerbil a few days ago and have noticed some wierd things. I am a first time owner btw. Heres a couple:

1: Digs up the compost from the floor and cover his food dish with it
2: Chews on the back of the wheel instead of some wood toys I have placed for him

Anyone know if this is normal? The girl at petco said hes about 1 month old and she rescued him. He is still getting used to his place.

Cool. Can't post links or pictures. I had a couple pictures and a video but the forum wont let me post it..

You cant post pictures or links until you have a certain amount of posts. I think it's 20. Sorry.

1. They are big diggers and will kick up the bedding as they see fit. In my experience, gerbils like to redecorate their homes.

2. Gerbils will chew on anything and everything. When I used to work at a petstore, they would chew the plastic houses and shred the bedding. I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Have fun with your new guy, and welcome to the forum!
