Please Help Hamster Problem

My roommate found a hamster a week ago - In the laundry room, Eating lint - We took it in. It was really hyper and excited and happy until this morning. Its eye was closed and puss-y. Now its breathing slow and very inactive. I think its dying . its already stopped breathing twice.

Its mouth is leaking pus and its jaw under its mouth is purple...

We have $28 dollars to our name until the first, so no vet in Denver will see us.

The girl at petsmart says hew looks 2 years old, about.

Honestly, if you cant afford treatment for him, I would just put him to sleep. If he has puss coming out of his mouth and his eyes, Id say that he is too far gone to be saved, and if he is already 2 years old he doesnt have much time left anyway. It should only cost about $10 to put him down.
Sorry that I dont have a happier answer for you! Good luck with the little guy.

His mouth is purple? That almost sounds like asphyxiation(suffocation), I wonder if the lint is blocking his airway. Yeah..I agree..the only humane thing to do is putting him to sleep, and ending his suffering, :/
