Unhappy Possibly paralized Gerbil

Hi. I am currently nursing a gerbil who appears to be paralized from the "waist" down. The kids were playing with him and may have hurt his back because ever since then he can't move his back legs and has been dragging himself around by his front. I read in another thread that sometimes if you give them food and water they can recover from something like this. He doesn't appear to be in any pain, but what kind of life is this? Do you think he'll recover on his own? I would hate to have him put down or whatever they do for gerbils. I love the little guy (Gary) and have been doing my best to get water into him and offering him food by hand without moving him too much. Please advise....

Thank you so much,
Wendy

I would get a professional opinion in this case, and see a small animal Vet.
Is he eating and drinking on his own?
as already asked can he go to the bathroom? Can he keep himself clean?

I agree, you need to see a vet as soon as possible!

It sounds painful and even if he don't look like he is in pain,he could be hiding his pain and other problems may occur,so please see a vet!
