I have three Syrians! Two girls, Sammy and Patches and one boy, Coco-who is Patches' son!! Having to keep them in three different cages is expensive, but my furbabies are very much worth every penny spent!!

This is the bin cage I made for my two robos - two levels, the bottom one being mostly for digging and tunneling with the food, wheels, bed etc on the top floor.

Unfortunately I borrowed one of their wheels for my other hamsters while I waited for a new one to be delivered, and in those two days they turned the small hole that the wheel attachment goes through into a hole big enough to escape! First I realised was when one ran across while I was eating breakfast, and I had to empty out the living room to find them!

So now they're in hammie alcatraz - a glass tank! The others (two chinese dwarves) are still in bin cages though... albeit VERY carefully planned ones!

*edit* it's not obvious from the pictures, but the bin cage shown DOES have good ventilation in the form of two large barred windows! I put them in the side as the boxes I bought had textured lids and I couldn't figure out how to fix metal mesh with no gaps round the edges...

Cool cage!! I like the wheels attached to the side rather than free-standing like mine are!!! That is so funny about your hammies escaping--Patches did the exact same thing with a small hole I used to have a toy hanging from!!! Little rascles!!!!
