Rotastak cages

We've recently had to separate my gerbils due to fighting, and we've got one of them in a rotastak cage. We're considering buying her a smaller sized gerbilarium than the original, as that one is big enough for 4+ gerbils, and we had two in there.

Now, a little while ago, we had to move the cages across the room, because we were having a small get together in the house. Just after moving the cage, the bottle from the rotastak cage flew out of the cage and hit the floor. Confused as to why this happened, we picked it up, refilled it, checked the cage, and put it back in securely; as nothing seemed to be wrong.

About 10 mins later the same thing happened again, except this time the bottle hit a chair as it came down and snapped in half.

Luckily enough we had a spare big bottle, which we got while the gerbils were fighting, in a way of trying to stop it. So we attached that bottle, and we ordered a new one online of the bottle that broke.

That was around a month ago, and everything's been fine until today, where the new replacement bottle did the same thing.

Has anyone else had this problem with the rotastak cages?

If it helps, she has the "Dreamland" cage.

Thanks.

Do they have the connecters that are like a ring with an open back and you slide the bottle in? I know its a bad description but you get the idea. If yes then I would not use them, they dont always hold

Yeah that's what came with them. What else can we use instead?

I use a peice of wire, I curve it to fit around the bottle and bend the ends so they hook over the bars. I have never had any problems with it
