I have had both. And Shelby #1(Teddybear) and (In a shuddering voice) Pepper,(Blackbear) Syrians tend to be meaner to me. But proven by Shelby#2,(Cambell) Buttercup, Blossom and Bubbles(Roborovskis) have proven, dwarfs are cute, sweet and great pets.

It depends on the individual.I have a "teddy bear" syrian now named JJ and he is super sweet! He is my first hamster since I was a kid and I wouldn't get a hamster because I thought I would be bitten,as we had some saucy hamsters when we were kids. But I was totally suprised with JJ! He is really friendly and sweet and has never bitten me once!

My sister also has a "teddy bear" syrian that is quite friendly and do not bite.He gets grumpy alot as he is 2 yrs old,but he doesn't bite.

Oh I know Vanilla. But since Pepper(Lighting flashes) I'm terrified of syrians. It's all in your luck.( I know "teddybear" and "blackbear" are nicknames but I wated to specify colors)

I never had a dwarf,so I have no opinion on them. They are really cute tho.But I am happy with my syrian.Maybe someday in the future I will get a dwarf or two.
