Talking We have a new family member!!

Today we adopted an ADORABLE little short haired syrian hammy! Because we totally need more pets He is a peachy tan color with little black ears, and he is 9-ish months they think. His name was Sammie, but we are 99% sure we are changing it to Theodore! <3
He is acually SUPER sweet and he has never bit anyone. When we went to pick him up from his old owners house, we thought that he just want getting attention... But it turns out, the parents are making their 8 year old get rid of him because of her grades! Isnt that horrible? I mean seriously, the kids in like 3rd grade! They said that she really loved the litte hamster too, and she got it for her birthday We felt really bad taking him after we heard that.
But anyways, since I adopted my bearded dragon my sister really wanted a hamster... So the little guy is technically hers, but Ill still probably play with him LOL. He came in a little 10 gal tank, so he just going to stay in that for now since all our bigger tanks are occupied, and I cant have the seal chewed on my 20 tall. We'll probably find him something bigger eventually though.
Ill add pictures later, since we arent handling him right now so he has a day or 2 to settle in.
I have to update my siggy!

LOL, Id rather have a dragon any day... BUT I have to say that Theo (his nick name!) is adorable! He is so laid back and calm, and really sweet. My sister already violated the "no-handle" rule to take some pics, so I should have some up by tomarrow LOL. He acually doesnt seem stressed out at all. My sister cleaned out his cage really well, fixed his wheel so his feet wont go through the spokes, and gave him some fresh veggies and hay, so he is having fun exploring the new things!
I took down my 25 gal fish tank a couple weeks ago, so his cage is on the stand for now so he will get lots of attention!

I knew it was a matter of time before you got a new pet, !

Ahh hammies, good/bad memories w/them. But, they're super cool animals to have-and good companions.

I can't wait to see pics .

You put a baby in a crib with an apple and a rabbit. If it eats the rabbit and plays with the apple, I'll buy you a new car.

Cool for you, but that's so messed up of those people!!!! To give away a pet so easily! 1, pets should not be that disposable and 2, jeez way to ruin that girl's sense of friendship and love!! And over grades!! Sheesh!

Anyway, good for you guys. Are all the pets in your siggy yours? I figure the dogs not, just because dogs are ususally a 'family' pet. I'd like to think my dog is mine, but in reality he's 'the familys'

so I was so excited when I read this! I think youve had hamsters before though? Still, dont ya just love their lil faces? I agree that it was just plain horrible of that girls parents, SHES 8! Your meant to take away their tv for bad grades, not one of the best freinds shell ever make!

Congrats! Hamsters are awesome .

That's terrible about the little girl, though, I can't believe they'd do that over grades .

Thanks everyone! LOL, Ive had good and bad hammies experiences too, so we wanted to make sure we got one with a good temperment!
And this was acually the first year we didnt have hamsters since I was 7 years old... So we have had ALOT of experience with hams before him. Hes in good hands
Im SO glad my parents dont take away pets for getting bad grades. I acually get good grades though, so I wouldnt have anything to worry about! Thats still SO sad though
So yeah... the little guy is settling in really well. We have a little mirror on the side of his cage, and he always stands infront of it when he cleans himself- too cute! He doesnt seem to know what to do with the little handful of hay we gave him though LOL. Our old hams used to love building nests with it and chewing on it!
Ill post pics when my sis downloads them from her camera

Congrats!

How horrible though...that little girl is now probably going to be afraid to love another pet, because it might get taken away from her for the smallest reason!
