Signs of Blindness in a Dog
Several signs of developing blindness are tripping over obstacles, greater reliance on sniffing ratjer on sight, sniffing his way around perimeters, facing wall when he gets in his bed or den. Same symptoms that we humans display when going blind. Our 10 yrs old poodle experienced loss of vision due to early cataract development, so we gave him cataract surgeries and what a difference it made. He turned his head to watch traffic on way home that day, ran up steps into kichen to refrigerator. Now like humans 2 yrs later, he trips over anything that's right in front of him but can see great at distances 3 feet out and more. He’s a dog, so doesn’t wear glasses for near vision. He watches everything now.
