GP and Parakeet Living together?

We were recently told by a friend we should not let our parakeet live with the GP as the bird could give the GP an infection. We haven't had any issues in several years other than chewed tail feather when they were first getting to know each other. The bird will go into cage and eat the same piece of lettuce the GP is eating at same time. It is real fun to watch them. The bird even prunes the GP's. Bird cage is open 24/7 and he visits whenever. At night he always returns to his cage.

Anyone know of reason for us to stop this? They get along real well. We put a webcam in because family and friends want to see what they are up to.

You can tell for yourself at our family site nz404 dot com. Can't do links yet.
