guinea pig constipation
Need some advice. My 7-8 month old guinea pig, Ginger, has been a little constipated lately. She is going again, since I've increased her fruit & vegetable intake, but I know I was giving her a good amount before hand and she's always been regular. I noticed the problem the other night & most of yesterday. When she would go, it would only be about two pellets at a time. I gave her a lot more leafy vegetables, as well as some fruit - and she started going again late in the day. Quite a bit, actually. The pellets are very normal. The only thing I'm assuming is that she has gained weight over the last few weeks & maybe I just need to increase the amount of fresh vegetables in general. At no point was she weak, or not eating. She was still her usual self (jumping around), although she seemed slightly less playful. Last night, after she pooped, she was back to her old self.
Has anyone had this experience before? At what point can it become serious?
