hagrid hurt his foot

and i'm not able to get to the vet til Thurs....i called and told them as i was trying to get him after his floor time he sprinted around a box i was scooting around him, and my hand clipped him next thing we both know he's totally limping and favoring a front paw! they said if there was no blood, and no limbs 'dangling' to keep an eye on him tonight and tomorrow and to come in Thurs. (that particular vet was in surgery today and isn't in on Wed.s)

i mean haggy didn't yelp or anything. it looked like it suprised him as much as me. i did get him up finally and he didn't wheek in pain when i moved or felt his arm/paw....is it possible he just twisted it???

is there anything i can do for him til Thurs.??

he'strying to act like normal! he seems to be thinking"what IS wrong with my paw?!" lol but he just keeps it close to his body. Is sleeping now.

i feel horrible, this is his first booboo.

Keep him quiet until you can get him in, if it does get worse, see if your vet can give you a referral to another clinic that may be able to help.

He most likely sprained it, (guessing here, not a vet) but I would definately keep him quiet, and if there is an upper level to his living arrangements for now I wouldn't allow him access to it. Keep everything on the one level.

Hope he heals and it is nothing more serious.

thanks for the tips. phoneix is pitching a fit cuz i put the pigloo infront of the ramp. lol

will be getting him in tomorrow evening.

he's still favoring the certain paw, but i caught him cleaning like normal with it today! so i was like..."FAKER!!" lol

he's eating and drinking totally normal. seems the same...not worse,so that's good.

phoenix has left him alone too, so that's good. i even caught him walking around then he'd lift his paw, the SAME one hagrid hurt, and walk around for a min. with it up, then he'd put it down and run off! Weird! is he copying haggy?? lol

anyway......

well, we had him to the vet last night and after feeling and checking over and moving hagrid's leg/paws/foot he said it didn't FEEL or sound broken.....that it was swolen and he felt a small amount of pain when he touched ...something....and that he didn't think it was broken, that it is more likely a sprain or small tear. he said we could either have xrays AND medicine or just the meds (anti inflamitory and we THINK pain reliever).....at $120 an xray, we opted for the meds. Vet man agreed, but that if after 2 weeks he wasn't better, theyd have to xray.

here's hopin'!

he also took hagrids heart and breath rate before and right after examening him and they didn't change! Lol he said he's one of the calmest pigs he's seen! i think he likes hagrid.

well, he's still limping a little they said to keep an eye on it for about another 2 weeks and if there's no marked improvement to bring him back in.

I do notice him doing more and putting a little more weight on it every other day.

but the vet said if it was a twist or someting similar it could take 4-6 wheeks to heal. soo...

thanks for asking

Sprains take longer than breaks to heal, I know this from personal experience. I wish for him marked improvement daily.
