Exclamation Strange behavior

Ive had my guinea pig (Sophie) since July. She was alone until around the end of August. I got another piggie named Stella. I bought a new cage so there would be no territory issues. Since we've had them together Sophie will make a strange sound and move her butt around kind of like a waddle. I just kind of brushed it off as it was probably a guinea pig thing. I have never owned any piggies. Just this past weekend Sophie was making the same noise and dragging her body on the floor of the cage. Does anyone know anything about this?

That's called rumblestrutting, and it's one of the things they do to display dominance. It's normal. They often tend to do it more regularly, along with mounting, when they're in heat.

We are as gods to the beasts of the fields. We order the time o' their birth and the time o' their death. Between times, we ha' a duty. - Terry Pratchett.

"Men have forgotten this truth", said the fox, "But you must not forget it. You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed. - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

My two girls did that for awhile, like Jennicat said, its just a dominance thing. It looks funny, but they'll figure the social ladder out pretty quickly! They'll especially do it when theyre in heat (like Jennicat said again). Enjoy having the two girls, I know you'll have fun them! I always like to watch my girls graze on the lawn during the summertime, they love the fresh air and fresh grass!

Yep, its cold here too. But today it was about 60 degress F, so I put Sunny out in the sun. Hopefully I got one last chance to get her outside on the grass. How are your girls settling in, have they gotten any better with each other?

I think so. It was rough for a bit. Sophie didnt like me petting Stella for a little while. Now i think shes okay with her. They havent been as bad. They "talk" to each other more.
