Treats?

What are some good and safe treats I can give my girls aside from veggies/fruit? I know the store bought ones are generally to be avoided. Is dried papaya a good treat? In moderation of course.

I dont usually give my piggers extra treats, but a few raisens are OK. Im not sure about papaya though. On super rare occasions, Ill give them each a Yogie, but those arent very good for them LOL. Craisens might be OK too I think.

I think of treats as fruits that you dont always give them, for instance strawberries or strawberries, for example, which are not always available all year long or certain vegetables..they are delicious and a fun treat

I've hear the honey/seed treats are actually bad for guinea pigs. Of course i didnt know that when i bought them and when they chomped them down....lol here is a picture of them

Its much better to just give special fruits, etc.

Yeah, they can choke on the seeds in those. Also, alot of those treats have gelatin in them- Not good for vegetarian piggers!
Its too bad though... My piggies and bunners used to LOVE those before I knew any better!

ya, and i learned that the honey that they love soooo much isnt good for them. I hate how people market guinea pig treats but dont tell you, feed in moderation or something. Its like hanging a Snickers bar in their cage!

I have not tried either yet but I have only had positive feedback about the peppers. I love making a bedtime salad though, a small bowl of lettuce, shredded carrot and gp muesli (I feed mine on nuggets usually so they enjoy it)
