Baby D had her babies

My girl Baby D (Deedle the 3rd) had her babies on Saturday, there are 11.
A few will be nakies, and out of 11 babies, there are 7 polydactyl. I think they're all going to be dumbo,

I have homes for some, and of course I'll be keeping two, I'm going to keep the "little squeaker" he is quite the talker already..I know he's a boy, I;m thinking of calling him Porkavian (Poor-Kay-Vee-En)

Yep, some of the babies have red eyes, and only a few have dark eyes. There are four of them that I know for sure will be nakies.
She's a really good Momma!

I'll get more oicturews in a few days!

Here's the rundown on what I've got in my litter
I want to wait and see on the ears, but I believe they are all dumbo
I assume the white to light will be himmies, since the "grandma" was a himmie, and the parents were both black self

1 blk self poly female-hairless
1 white (or light) poly female-hairless
1 white (or light) poly male-hairless
1 white (or light) poly male-haired
1 blk self poly male-hairless
1blk self poly female-haired
1 white (or light) female-hairless
1 white (or light) female-hairless
2 white male hairless
1 white female haired

I must have counted one of the poly babies twice yesterday!

Yes, I Line Breed my rats to keep that specific gene dominent. While Lilspz is right. polydactylism doesn't really serve any function, but then again, neither do hairlessness, or dumbo ears. It's just something unique that I thought would be a shame to let fade out. I try mostly though for the polydactyl, and the bigger, more rounded dumbo ears, as well.

wow they are so cute. Tattoie had 4 dumbos but they passed the grandfather was a Dumbo I have the mom. She was a present from the person who breed them to get Yoda. The parents were both smoth coat but the lady who had the father one was a d-rex and the mother was a smooth coat she keep them for breeding but not for pets. The mothers parents were smooth coat and d-rex or a poor rex from what the lady told my frined.
wow she has a big tummy. I love my polys they are so neat arnt they? Granted they dont sirve a purpose but it dont hurt them either except making shure thay the extra toes or the nails on the extra toes stays trimed. I love Dumbos and Polys.

That's amazing--I didn't know there was a polydactyl gene in rats! Cute babies--can't wait to see them as their fur grows in!

You should post pictures of your polydactyl rats.
I just tried to Google them with NO luck! I have never seen one.

here is a food of a poly rat attually 2 pictures the 1st is double shot becuase of her moms name martine and the other is foxy foxy becuase she is fawn but sorta remends be of the fox color.

Double Shot becuase of the extra toes

Foxy Foxys foot.

here is foxy as you can tell or see that her foot has it the extra toe. both feet do the back feet on both rats have the extra toe.
In fact thier is a lady around here that has cats that she rases that are polly some come out with them some dont the ones that done are carries and most of them are white becuase the fathers color is white and his father and so on was that color, although some are not white but most are, depends on the other female and her domint color.
like Tweedle said they dont serive a purpose but it dont hurt them either and it is a cool triate to pass on.

I would have posted a picture...oh well....

I'm still excited about my babies!
They only require a bit of extra care, you need to try to keep the nails on the extra tow filed down, if they'll let you, I start doing that for them early on, so they are pretty used to it by the time they go to new homes!
