bugs in the mouse food!! Again...

A few weeks ago I found little brown bugs in the mouse food. I figured it wasn't sealed tight, threw it away, and bought new. I put the new stuff in an air tight container and found the little bugs in there again!! It is getting very annoying having to get new food. I was wondering if anyone has ever had these little nasties or if they could have possibly already been in the food when I bought it??

Hmmm...I haven't had this problem yet. What type of food is it? The only thing I could think of would be to try freezing it for a couple of days before using it, but I don't know if that would work or not...

They were probably in the food already. What brand is it and where are you buying it?

Well my mom bought the food, and I think it was from Target or Wal-mart. I will ask her tomorrow. This is the kind-
I have gotten animal planet brand from target before and never had problems, but they don't have that brand in the stores near me.

Freezing might work. Just make sure it doesn't get any moisture when you thaw it or you'll end up with mouldy food.

They're moths. They were either in the food when you bought it or they got in there when you opened it. You can try the freezing method, but if the food was contaminated after opening it will just get contaminated again. And definitely don't get it wet. Best bet is to keep food sealed at all times!!! If you still have problems you can try to put an osage orange in the food but DON'T FEED IT TO YOU FURRIES! It's to keep away fruit flies and other buggy critters. THe blacker they get the better they work. They sell them at most grocery stores and Wal-marts in the produce section. If this doesn't work you may have to switch foods. I've never had moths in the food I feed which it Nutriphase Gold. Good luck!!

Thank you. The thing is, as soon as I opened it I put it into a air tight container, used for human food...so that shouldn't be the problem. I will see how it goes, until I freeze it I have been making the food.
