cage advice

i've been looking for a suitable cage for my 9 female mice for a while but cannot find any in my price range at the miunte in the pet shops i like the jenny rat cage but i can only spead upto £50 on a cage + whatever the price for mesh to cover it so its escape proof. Does anyone no of any good cages that would be suitable for this many mice and at a suitable price.

Why not use a large aquarium?

I can tell you that from having mice tanks are the best way to go especially if you have that many. I would suggest a tank also.

You could try a bin cage as well.Bins are cheap and it isn't complicated to make the top. When I had large numbers of mice,I used bins.I only have 5 now and so they are housed in a hamster cage. But I say go with bins, they are cheap and easy to clean.

I currently have 7 females plus 20 babies in a cage that my neigbor helped me build, it only cost about $20-30 for the wood, nails, and chicken wire. You have to be handy with a hammer though, also I've used bins for cages too, the mice might chew threw and excape unless you put chicken wire around the outside.

I had up to 8 in a savic Ruffy which was less than £50 but plan to use my savic freddy for groups larger than that. Could you maybe get one 2nd hand?

could you post a pic! i d love to see it

plus i agree with you, if you re tied with cash, then you can build a really big nice cage for your mice to roam in, and the benefits to a wire cage is that the ventilation is much better than a tank or so

The Jenny cage looks nice, but how far is the bar spacing?...
I know you said you plan on making it escape proof.

Did you try eBay? I'm trying to make a nice mouse habitat with tubes etc.Shipping is not good for me mostly. But I really like the look of cages that can be added on to.

the bar spacing is 1cm which is on the other end of the scale for me but i still like it as it's huge i stood next to it in pets at home and its massive lol, but im still thinking of buying a base of some sort and making my own house cage as then i can make it to my own needs and the meeces needs but for now my mice will just have to live in this cage till after christmas
