Can male mice be castrated?

Thats the general question...

Sub question would be:

if you COULD castrate a couple of male mice, due to loss of testosterone from having no balls, would it be possible to keep two in the same cage together, or would they still be likely to fight a lot?

They can be castrated but it can be costly and sometimes the mouse doesn't even survive. The vet has to know what they are doing.

Also it is possible that they can live together.

Someone on here I think has a huge page on castrating male mice and what the outcomes are. I forget who it is though.

they can easily be castrated...i have done this countless of times...this will allow the male mice to live together and will reduce their smell by ninety percent and the procedure costs 15-30 bucks as long as you have the patience to find a vet willing. The outcome to successful castration is based upon how well they will respond to the medicine they are using..

personally, i have done it for years and the outcomes are good...with any surgery there are risks...but this is minor surgery..

I know it can be done, but I never had any of mine neutered. You MUST find a small animal vet who is experianced in it,or you may lose your mice!

my vet wasnt experienced in mice but he has castrated a hamster..he knew the effects of anesthesia and how sensitive mice are...and he will tell you how comfortable he feels about it...just talk to a bunch of vets...never hurts to ask
