I personally am 100% against smoking around ANY pet, especially ones with sensitive respiratory tendancies. It's your choice to poison yourself and that's fine, but it isn't fair to them.

people aren't allowed to smoke in my house, therefore not around my pets. They want ot kill themselves, go ahead, but they can leave it at just themselves.

Too lazy to even think of a siggy

i think it's the same as smoking around a child, so i don't allow it.

I pretty much always smoked outside, unless we were at my boyfriend's mom's house, because she smokes indoors. I don't think it's fair to expose ANYONE to it who doesn't want to be. Aniamls can't talk, but I'm sure if they could, they'd say they didn't want it.

For the record, I quit smoking for New Years, so it's not an issue anymore.

Thanks. It was my third attempt at quitting, so I'm really glad that it actually worked this time.

I don't smoke, but my boyfriend does. However I have a room sepcially for my rodents and he isn't allowed smoking in there.Actually the only room I let him smoke in is in the bedroom...and if I wanna take the rats up here,I make sure he won't be smoking for a few hours and if he wants to I tell him to go outside!I have him under my control, as he listens!

Nobody's allowed to smoke in our house and I wont let my dog go to my in-laws house any more in case they smoke all over her.

There's this pet shop in a big market in Leeds where anyone can smoke over the animals, this makes me so angry. They have rats, rabbits, mice, hamsters, ferrets and sometimes kittens, I don't know who would buy these animals but they obviously do, as much as I'd like to rescue them all I'd only end up with a bunch of sick pets.

Rats and other animals, like cats, who spend a good deal of time grooming themselves should never be exposed to cigarettes smoke. The residue is ingested and it has been shown to cause cancer of the mouth, tongue and throat. ...that's in addition to the damage and cancers of the respiratory tract.

Birds are hit with a double dose, as their respiratory systems are so efficient, they get almost four times the effect of secondary smoke, ...and they groom and ingest it that way too.

Smoking and pets don't mix, ...if you care for your pets, that is.
