Question Coconut Fiber

I just baught a brick of coconut fiber used for reptile bedding and i was going to use it on my rat bedding, i will water it then expand it and let it dry.. has anyone done this or know why it would be bad for them??

Its 100% natural coconut fiber... 1 brick is enough for a 55 gal for a lizard

is it really dusty? it seamed dusty when i opened it but it says its save for reptiles to eat, and my iguana book doesnt say anything about it. its small fibers it might get everywhere! i was thinking about maybe mixing it with my carefresh but it would look silly. kermit might like it though

You can use it for any type of animal it is safe and very soft, at least from what I've seen. There are different types you can buy, I think one is even make of tree bark.

i dont know if i would suggest it, it comes in a brick and you have to water give it a gal of water to expand it then you have to find a way to dry it... i have it in a 10 gal fish tank and i have to keep stirring and stirring and its still not dry from last night... if you could lay it all out it would be ok.. but i dont have the space for that and i dont know if it is really cheap either... 5 for 1 brick = 55 gal, but probably only one change of bedding. i hope they dont track it all over.... How ever it is compleately natual, recycled coconut
