Daisy

Once in a while when I pick Daisy up she straightens her back. I don't know how else to describe it. It's just for a second and she doesn't make any noises so I don't think she's hurt. She only does it once in a while.

she's relaxing and expecting a back scratch! my timmy does that and he'll even wag his tail like a snake sometimes

Really? It doesn't feel like she's relaxed. It feels like she tenses up or something.... and my hand is on her back so I can't scratch her back when she does it.

then its still the same thing but shes doing it to show submissiveness. it does feel like they tense up, but they're just holding still while you touch, scratch, or pet them, no worries

So, does she think both me and Lily are dominant?

its likely. but like i said, she still can be holding still just for grooming, not necessarily lack of dominance. it's a bit of both most likely

I'm glad they're happy! They've been grinding their teeth a lot lately, especially right against my ear (lol). I love it! I love my Daisy & Lily. They do the funniest things sometimes.. They always want to be around me.. They're the best pets! I never thought rats could be THIS SWEET and I absolutely hate it when people go "ewwww" or laugh at me when I talk about them.

Exactly! I tell them they are just like dogs, but tinier and .... rodents. Yes, I love the broxing but I really want to see the eye boggling thing. I've seen a video of it and it looks freaky but cool but they've never done it or atleast I've never seen it.

Well, thank you for the info.. I was getting kinda worried, but I will scratch her belly next time she does that back thing.. They don't usually stay still long enough for me to scratch their bellies, but I will try.

even just a quick back rub will do, it sounds like she's expecting you to be as ratty as her! lol

lol - Well.... I hate to disappoint her, but since they are my very first rats ever I don't really know what she's saying all the time. But this message board does help.

Hey, if you have AIM or Yahoo Messanger.. send me a message - TessaCoh (on both).
