Favorite Rat/Mouse Toys?

I'm trying to decide what kinds of toys to get for my rats and mice next and wanted to know what kinds your's prefered.

So far my rats favorite toys are cardboard boxes. Any shape, any size, they don't care, they love them. They also really like thier roll-a-nest (http://www.petsmart.com/global/produ...nest&N=2023695) which they will all pile into at once. They all love to run on thier wheel and I'll often find two or three of them on it at once. Cocoa also really loves a small plactic container that originally held gatoraide mix. She'll drag it around the cage and throw it at the walls. None of the others really have anything special that they prefer so far.

I havn't really had the mice long enough to know what they really like, but the girls are constantly on thier wheel. The boys not so much. But they do have different kinds of wheels so I'm thinking that when I clean thier cages this weekend I'll switch the wheels and see if that changes anything there... Although, the boys seem to really like a section of a thick cardboard tube that I have hanging from the top of thier tank. But I think that my be because it's the darkest place in thier cage... Although now that I've given them a few small bardboard boxes that may change...

Anyway, what do yours really like?

mine loved to build nest and tunnel in a box of shredded newspaper or dirty laundry.
they loved the fishing for peas game. its just a shallow cake pan with water, add peas, then add rats.
they love the digging box too. i got a shoe box full of potting soil with nothing added and mixed in seeds for the to forage.
i made ratty pinatas too. just put a treat in a wadded up piece of paper and let them go at it. Also i strung cheerios or butter free pop corn up on a hemp string around the cage.

KILL THE FEATHER! omg my rats loved that game. just get a feather and pester them with it. they will run and jump on it. they will attack it and chase it. its great fun to watch.

My rats love feathers too...they love "killing" them and also those fur mice you can get for cats, they "kill" those as well! They also love ladders, things with bells, little balls, tissue boxes...etc.

You can find stuff around the house for them to play in,as long as it is safe. What I do is look at something and think like a rat,if it looks fun and is safe...the rats get to play with it!

Do spiny mice count?

Isis really likes these vegetable-shaped chew toys I got her. Her favorite one is the tomato---she carries it around.

She also likes these chews called "Bark Bites" which are wooden toys with some bark left on them. And of course she loves her wheel, cardboard tubes, and wooden house.

My girl mice like their wheel. My boy mouse is a little fat and doesn't do much, he's getting old. So I play with him a lot outside of the cage. My rats love their hammock tubey thing (they ripped the heck outta it) I keep it in their cage anything. I chase them around with a nail file. They love it and it keeps their nails blunt. They have their sleep box too. I think their favorite toy is my curtain that hangs beside the cage...they ripped the crap outta it
