Fishing!!

So did y'all know rats love to go fishing? Yeah, well neither did I.

In our house we have a room that is pretty much the rodent room, but since they had never seemed to notice or care about it, I had my female beta in there too.

So the other day I'm letting my little mommies get some away from babies time in the room while I'm cleaning cages, feeding, etc., and I look up just in time to see nothing but two pairs of feet and haunches balancing on the edge of the fish tank. I barely saved Janice's little fishy life, little monsters!

It was kind of funny to see I wish I had a pic for that "busted" thread that's been going on here, but I had to move quickly so no time for snapshots.

Mine all love water. They'll play in a puddle of water you accidentally spilled.

i think the key is to have a trail of peas that they taste and then show them you putting them in the water they are greedy they give up fears for food

My rats love pea fishing!
I also had some of my rats try and fish for my pet fish before as well. That was before I moved the tanks out of the ratty room.

I also knew a girl who would buy those little feeder goldfish and put them in a bowl for her rats to catch and eat.

I've never heard of pea fishing. Do you just put frozen peas in water or something?

Well, I know Meatball probably won't but the other probably will. Meatball had mites when I got him and the vet had me bathing him everything three days and giving ivermectin. Since then, he hates water.

You know I usually have your back van_rat, but watching my rat eat a live goldfish doesn't sound that appetizing to me either.
