GAAH! No ratties??

About 8 months ago, I approached a wonderful breeder about adopting two of her little rat bubs from one of her upcoming litters. I wasn't in a position to adopt right away but sent in the paperwork and told her I'd let her know when to put me on the wait list.

I contacted her in September or so, letting her know I was ready and to put me on the list for a January adoption. Little did I anticipate how pathetic and pet-worthy I would become. (Pet pet pet....poooor Story).

I've let myself get so excited about the pairing of mom and dad, and then as the birth date has come, I'm chewing my nails and walking in circles.

Then, what's this? Hey she's in the process of updating her website! The babies must be born! Yay!

But she didn't add pictures. And she didn't add pictures. So I finally broke down and emailed her to ask how things were, and she had to inform me that none of her pairings took this round.

Cybersob.

She told me she'd be repairing and any new bubs will be available Feb. or March.

I am so pettably pathetic.

Twiddle twiddle twiddle....March is only three months away...March is only three months away....

I'm already pondering names for my two boys. How pathetic is that?

Current contenders:

Fuego and Coolio (Certain poetic bookendy kind of naming scheme)

Smeagol and Deagol (Tolkeinian)

Ector and Bors (Arthurian)

Spam and Nudge (Python)

Mr. Creosote and Thinmint (Python: Meaning of Life)

Tucker and Windham (Tip of the hat to a revered local storyteller Katherine Tucker Windham)

Chihuahua and Terrier ( This is my pet Chihuahua and my rat Terrier)

I'm sorry that your bubbies didn't uhh..happen? But look on the bright side, it gives you something to look forward to!
I always get ratties in pairs, and they always have names in pairs (Leila and Nibbler-Futurama, Naomi Ratts & Mischa Ratton-Naomi Watts-Mischa Barton, Dora and Boots-Nick Jr, Billy and Mandy-The Grimm Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Guiness and Bailey-Bailey's Irish Creame..Guiness) I think you get the picture. Good Luck with the new-new Ratties!

Everyone I've talked to loves those names best. LOL I can't quite figure out why, but there's something about them.

And, thanks. I'm all right with the wait, but I gotta let out the built up arg somewhere. It's always best to do so where you will find lots of sympathetic ears. Being the only person in a 20 mile radius (I'm sure) over the age of 15 who wants to own a rat in my community, my friends and family mostly just laugh and point.

I knew there was a reason I instantly liked you. Anyone who's a Futurama fan and can also admit they like Dora has to be all kinds of awesome. And, Naomi and Mischa....awesome as well.

That is so super disappointing! I hope you can get your ratties soon. I often make a list of potential names before I get new rats. Sometimes I use them and sometimes I come up with completely different names once I meet the rats. It's great when you get a rat and a name just comes to you, then you know it's the right name for him!
