Talking Go! Go! Gadget...Mouse!

So... I'm amused, but confused

I have seen both my mice, each on different occasions, wag their tail at the other. She (both girls) will just whip it around!! And I've had it hit me lol. It doesn't hurt, but it really shocked me! It was like being slapped with a long skinny finger (shut up!). Made a noise too! THWAP! And if she's near anything else (which is usual since I keep it packed with fun stuff) then she makes a racket. I've gone over to the cage before, thinking "what the heck am I hearing?", and it's her tail going off all the cage bars like a monotone xylophone. She looks like she's doing her impression of Inspector Gadget with his helicopter hat

Does anyone know what this behaviour means?

LOL, that sounds funny!
HmMmMmm... well, I'm not sure. Do you think it happens when you add something new, or when her cage is cleaned and fresh/ changed around slightly. Maybe its her/their way of saying hey look what weapon I have before they actually aproach something new... but I'm still not sure LOL.
I went on the internet about this because it made me curious LOL
I found that mice twitch their tails if they are excited or nervious. Then on this site it said that if they are throwing their tail around it's a sign of aggression, however, it doesn't sound like your mice are being aggressive by it if you know what I mean...
Here's the link, it's one of those 'question and answer' ones; look at the answer

Hope that helps, and thanks for sharing

Sounds like tail rattling, which is usually a warning, like laydeerodentzz said. I have a couple of cranky old lady-type mice that will do it at each other every once in a while. But I also have a really sweet mouse who will do it randomly seemingly for no reason at all, so my guess is that it doesn't ALWAYS mean aggression.

I agree it sounds like "tail rattling". Thanks! They don't do it "to" new things, they're doing it at each other, and not necessarily after I clean/add. I've seen each do it to each other once, and mystique did it once to me. I didn't know what it meant, but I was sure it wasn't good, so I backed off. But then I gave her a treat a minute later, and she was fine. They are both real sweeties. They're shy but full of sweetness. I've been licked, I can scoop them out of the cage (though I prefer not to for their sake), hold them in my arms. They're getting used to my being in my ball on my floor, but they enjoy it. Weirdos! lol

Hahahaha! The way you explained it,put a smile on my face! Haha.

Anyway the others have covered it.
It is usually a warning.Something like when a gerbil stomps their foot!

Your miceys sounds great and like they are well used to you.
