Unhappy Had to get toto put to sleep

Well i cannot really type right now because words cannot describe how i'm feeling.
I had to get toto PTS this morning the vet said he was literally dying he was dehydrated and nearly starved to death my heart is broken I miss him so much and its just been a few hrs.

I will put him in the RIP bit later when i have the courage to finally accept he is gone

Few questions about novo though because i do not want any more rats because i dont feel im ready for more as this time has broke my heart.
Will he be ok by himself? he seems to know what has happened.
how many hrs a day should i try and spend with him?
And what if he starts to show signs of lonelyness? what am i ment to do

Awwww, nooo, poor Toto, and poor you
At least you plucked up the courage to post something on here.
I feel so sad for you right now
At least you did the right thing!
I hope you and Novo pull through hun, I really do.
I think you should leave Novo for a day or two just to see how he gets on at first. Once he has settled down, spend as much time as you can with him, double or triple his time out of the cage that he usually has.
I hope you are okays. If you need to talk than PM me and I'll be there for you all the way.
Love you a million....xxxxxxxxx

Aww I'm so sorry It really is so heartbreaking to loss our little furry friends.

I never owned rats, but I know that when Zeus passed I really do think Barnaby knew what had happened. I think they can tell when their buddies are sick.

Spend as much time as you can with him, even if your just sitting together while you watch tv or something. It will be good for him and probably for you too. At least I know that spending lots of extra time with Barnaby has been helping me cope with what happened to Zeus.

I'm sure someone who knows more about rats will be more helpful, but I know what you're going through and I know how hard it is, so I wanted to post.

have you got one of those bonding pouches? that worked wonders for me and kim afte cheryl got pts. that way, he can sit on your shoulder if he wants to, or he can snuggle in the pouch. if you're at home all day, once he's got the idea, you may be able to spend all day with him.

Oh no! I am so sorry!

I totally understand how you feel.I have owned many rats, but it is always so devestating when they go.I just had my beloved guinea pig pass as well.Animals like rats and guineas, which are social do often grieve. But in most cases, they are fine after a few days.

When one of mine passes,I spend alot of time with their remaining cagemates. So just take Novo out while you do stuff around the house.Let him hang out on your shoulder or in your hoody pocket.

Once again I am really sorry.
I am here if you need me.
*hugs*

What does it mean when you like scratch your rat and they sound like their critting there teeth and there eyes pop in and out really fast it really scared me!!! i was like AAAAAAAAAAAAH LOL
It made me laugh but does it mean hes unsettled or something?
Because he was still doing it when he was lying down.
Im talking about novo btw lol.

No LOL
It doesn't mean he is unsettled, when they chatter their teeth it is called, Bruxing. When their eyes are coming in and out of their head I call it eye-boggling.
However, I have also heard somewhere that bruxing can be a sign of distress, but I'm not sure on that one.

Bruxing is USUALLY a sign of happiness or being content.
However in some cases,it can mean they are angry or distressed.
