yeah my mom was telling me about this and how she saw a documentary!
She said that on that documentary, they were trying to train the rats to also detect some disease in people in africa, so that treatment could be given sooner without expensive tests and waiting for results.

they have actually trained some of these rats to detect TB, they have a much higher detect rate then the TB reaction tests they currently use and they can also go through about 40 samples a day where as half as many take weeks!
