Homemade tubes? tank connectors?

I know a lot of people were making Bin cages for awhile, but i was wondering if anyone has experimented with any homemade tubes? or ways of connecting 2 or more cages. i was thinking maybe if you could find the right size of that ribbed plastic hose stuff they use like for pool filters and stuff.. of course with the ribs they would prolly be more likely to chew it, so you would have to check it all the time.. but would it be safe to use for them? I tried looking online and could only find 2 ideas, one was to use pvc pipe. The other was to use plastic water bottles taped together, which again, would be easy for them to chew out of, but might work for playtime, and if you happen to have a lot of water bottles laying around, would be a great way to reuse them. heres a link to that one http://www.instructables.com/id/Your...t=50&offset=50 The thing i don't like about the water bottles, is to make the bends, they heated them or melted them, wouldn't that let off toxins? i dunno, any ideas?

If you melt them with common sense i.e. outside, good ventilation etc... there shouldn't be much of the problem.

If you don't mind it not being clear PVC pipes are RodentzRule said would also work. I would personally melt or drill holes in them for added ventilation.
