hurray!

I was able to pick up mama ratty tonight, set her aside for a little bit, and then handle all her babies! she's got 12, most of them are agouti like her but 3 of them are black and white hooded. they all have their eyes open and were a little bit uncomfortable being handled but they seemed to adjust fairly quickly. I think they should make socialization progress pretty easily as long as we keep up on it. they're so freaking adorable! the only health concern i really have so far for them is their heads seem so huge compared to their bodies. other than that they seem to be doing well, they were all alert and responsive and one of them gave me an exploratory nibble on my hand.

How old are the babies? Its normal for babies to have HUGE heads and chubby stocky bodies depending on their age, some have HUGE heads and funny little small bodies

I figure your babies are older than 8-9 days when their fur is coming in, so you know if you have agouti or black hoodies

9 day old boy

Same boy at 15 days old...big head

To the world you are only one person, to your rat you are the World
