I did a bad thing...

I got a new rat!!

I'm getting my rescue boys on Saturday, so I went to the store to get some new stuff to put in their cage for them. Well, they had a DOUBLE REX baby all alone in a tank and I just could not leave without him! I've named him Squid.

He is still little so he's set up in one of my small cages at the moment. He looks quite healthy but of course I'm quarantining so we will see if he comes up with any problems. I hope not! He's so cute, I know you want pics, so I will get some tomorrow. I'm letting him settle in tonight.

Maureen

Well I got up this morning and checked on the little guy. He's been here for almost 12 hours and hasn't pooped yet. I'm a little concerned about that. I'm not sure if he's eating but he does have a bunch of food stashed in his hide. He seems pretty friendly and all, but I really thought he should have pooped by now... Anyone ever had a rat go without pooping? How long until I should start really worrying?

He also sounds a bit congested today, most likely from the stress, but I haven't seen any porphyrin yet. This is what I get for buying a pet store rat, I knew I shouldn't have. I just hope he'll be ok.

Awww, congrats on the new boy
Sorry to hear he is having a few problems, I would have thought that he would've pooped by now, maybe he is constipated.
Looking foward to pics, he sounds beautiful and looking foward to hearing about the arrival of your new rescues

He pooped!

I already made him a vet appointment for tomorrow to get him checked out, especially for the congestion and junk. I will be taking him out tonight for our first bonding session, at which point I will take pictures, I promise!!
