Yup! I gave Timmy a bath, his first one, but boy he needed it! I made sure I had a towel ready on the floor to plop him in it for drying cuddles. I put a plug in the bathroom sink and filled it with lukewarm water. I figured cooler is safer than hotter, I didn't want to hurt him. Once I had enough water in the sink, I turned the tap off, and gently put him in there. I had to coo to him the whole time "shh it's okay, it's okay buddy" over and over. He kept trying to climb up my arms, but I didn't wear sleeves thank gosh or i'd have a sopping wet rat on my neck! I just kept gently putting him back in the water, always with my hand so he knew it was safe. Soap, scrub, rinse. As quickly as i could, really. I was rinsing him, he tried to climb up my arm, I put him back in the sink, then he did what sounded like a defeated sigh, or he hissed at me. Either way I was done so I decided OUT to the towel! He really was such a good boy. He wasn't panicking or freaking. He was very quiet and curious. He sniffed all the things on the counter, even the water. I'd always very very gently p ut him back in the sink water. I chose the bathroom sink so that he was all ready at my waist so I could be closer to him so he'd be less nervous. The whole bath process only took less than ten minutes. I wanted to keep it short and sweet. I coudln't believe the water when I was done with him. He pooed twice near the end. The water was BLACK, I thought holy canolies! Good thing I bathed him, he was FILTHY! Note to self, do this more often! Afterwards I gave him a treat and put him in his cage, then he groomed himself to high heaven lol. He's sleeping right now, so tonight I can see how dashingly handsome and clean he is
Oh yeah, and I decided the safest soap to use on him was regular moisturizing Dove handsoap. I hope that's an okay choice? if not tell me what to use and I'll use it next time. I just wanted something to help his skin because he seems bugged by it sometimes. His skin is clear though, i've checked it a million times. He's not scratch crazy, just sometimes he goes at one spot like it's buggy. I've cut back his seed blend, which has helped his skin too.
