Exclamation I got a BIG fright !!

Well last night i was walking past the rats cages and noticed that toto was really quiet so i went up to him he wouldnt come over .. i looked in his bed and there was blood everywhere i took him out ( he doesnt really liked being held or anything ) and tried to look around to see where it was coming from .. looked at his paw and there a little nick outta his paw he has a habit of biting his nails on the same paw so i think he must of bit his wee foot inside .. i dont have any creams or anything to clean it with and he wont sit still and he tries to get away .. so i checked on him there about half hr ago and its all dryed up and looks ok .. is there anything i should do ? or have done wrong ?.
There bedding is changed everyday so its quite clean so he can't really get his paw dirty.

I would still get something to clean it out and keep some neosporin on it just to make sure nothing gets infected. When Izzy got her ear torn I used a syringe to just flush it real good with a disinfectant (peroxide, alcohol etc) and then put some neosporin on it.

I'm sorry to hear that Toto cut his foot. Perhaps you should call the vet, just to be sure that everything's OK.

Good luck and I hope Toto's foot heals soon!

Yeah, try and get something to wash it with, but for now I think that it will be fine just to get a peice of cotton wool and dab it with warm water to keep it looking good
Hope you are okay

It will probably be okay.
If it is not a deep cut/wound...then it should heal fast with no problems!

When my rats get a little cut,if it is not deep or serious...I dab some polysporin/neosporin on it and it heals quite fast!

As the others say, try to keep it clean as bacteria would be an issue. Salted warm water on a cotton wool pad would be good to dab it with or hibisol if you can get it. My Jerry got atacked by my Tom and he ended up with badly cut feet but as long as you make sure the wounds are clean then there should be no problem. If it doesn'tstart to heal up within a week or there is discharge coming from it you will need to see a vet. Good luck, and i hope he gets better soon. I know how awfull it feels when you see your babies injured but just give him some extra TLC and i'm sure he'll be fine.

Make sure you don't use a lot of Neosporin. He will be licking at it, for sure, and it's not good for him to ingest a bunch of it.

Really, rats heal incredibly quickly, so there's not much need to worry. Just watch for infection.
