I think my rat is Pregnant!

Ok so this is my first time of having rats and we got two female's from the pet store and they told us that they thought that they where 8 months old well I think that one of them is pregnant because she is getting so big and we put bedding in there for them and she make like a little nest and moved everything around and is wanting to sleep all the time now. And the other one is still skiny as could be. So if anyone could please help that would be great.
Thank you
Kelly

Does the potentially pregnant rat have a pear-shape to her? That does sound like nesting behavior, though...

Well I would put the pic of her but it told me that I could put one yet so you can go to my facebook and then look for me Kelly (Eichler) Metcalf. I think that she looks pear shaped.

Are her nipples barer than the rest of her belly? Granted, that only happens a little bit before the actual litter is delivered.

She looks pregnant to me but its a wee pic so its hard to tell.

How long have you had her now? A rat's gestation period is 21-23 days. Can you get a hold of a digital scale? Determining pregnancy is best with weighing them once a day, every day and recording the weights. Towards the end of her pregnancy she will likely be gaining over 10 grams a day. I have dealt with quite a few rescue litters so am pretty good at determining when the birth will occur, but lets make sure she's pregnant first.

Well we have had them for 20 days now because we got them on June 23. I don't have a digital scale. Where would I even get one at? And I can see her nipples but I would not say that there is a lot of hair gone from around them. Thank you both for your help.

Can you email me more pics?

You only have a couple more days to wait it out. But she will need to go into a maternity cage if she is pregnant, do you have an appropriate cage?

I got my Pelouze digital postal scale at Business Depot or Staples.
