Introducing Scewer and Hathaway!
Well, my mom and I were out yesterday and we ended up at the Salvation Army store, where they had a filthy bird cage for about $15. It had a hole in the side, and needed a second level, but I figured I could fix it up and make it a suitable rat cage. It already had two water bottles, one of which I threw away because the plastic was peeling, and two food dishes, one of which was broken. We stopped at the hardware store on the way home and got the stuff I needed to fix it. It took me about 3 hours to finish, including taking the bottom off so I could get the second level in it. I was really frustrated, but I'm happy with how it ended up.
When it was completely done we went to PetSmart to get a couple of little things for it and stopped to look at the rats. One of the employees came over and told us that one of the little boys had a bad leg and if we'd take him and one of the others she's give him to us for free. Well, how could we resist that?
So now I have too little berkshire boys. The one with the bad leg is Skewer, and he's cream colored. His leg is all healed now, he just walks a little funny. We think it was broken at some point and just didn't set right. The other boy, Hathaway, is either black or a really dark brown, I havn't been able to tell for sure yet.
I'll try to get some pictures later when my dad gets home so I can use his camera, but no promises.
