Introducing Scewer and Hathaway!

Well, my mom and I were out yesterday and we ended up at the Salvation Army store, where they had a filthy bird cage for about $15. It had a hole in the side, and needed a second level, but I figured I could fix it up and make it a suitable rat cage. It already had two water bottles, one of which I threw away because the plastic was peeling, and two food dishes, one of which was broken. We stopped at the hardware store on the way home and got the stuff I needed to fix it. It took me about 3 hours to finish, including taking the bottom off so I could get the second level in it. I was really frustrated, but I'm happy with how it ended up.

When it was completely done we went to PetSmart to get a couple of little things for it and stopped to look at the rats. One of the employees came over and told us that one of the little boys had a bad leg and if we'd take him and one of the others she's give him to us for free. Well, how could we resist that?

So now I have too little berkshire boys. The one with the bad leg is Skewer, and he's cream colored. His leg is all healed now, he just walks a little funny. We think it was broken at some point and just didn't set right. The other boy, Hathaway, is either black or a really dark brown, I havn't been able to tell for sure yet.

I'll try to get some pictures later when my dad gets home so I can use his camera, but no promises.

I'm not sure I could handle that many, lol. 8 is my limit for the moment. But only four of them are actually mine. Four of the girls belong to my mom and my brother. All of the mice are mine though.

I hope to get the pics soon, but at this point it'll have to wait until at least tomorrow.

They're doing pretty well. The last time I took them out Hathaway sat there shaking for about 5 minutes before finally calming down enough to sniff around. Skewer, on the other hand, just started running around on my chair, and kept coming back to lick my fingers. It was so cute!
