Keep Jake in your thoughts!

The little hairless ratty I just took in,well he is NOT doing well at all.I am not going to show you pictures,he looks that bad! His cagemate,Jack, attacked him today and he is all cut up.Hairless rat skin is super sensitive anyway. But he is still super skinny. He is now seperated,I am hoping that if he does not have to compete for food and water,he may gain weight.I am also going to be adding more fatty foods to his diet.He was the only skinny one of the bunch and it seems that he is still not getting as much food as he should be.

I found out these rats had a poor diet (cat food and bread and canned pasta) and so now they are gorging themselves, because they have a good diet now. They seem to be eating alot more then my other rats.

Also I realized he wasn't drinking.I seen him drink, but not the past couple days.Well I noticed his skin was kind of dark.He was also super dehydrated and lethargic.I just had to feed him water thru a syringe! I also put him into his own cage, with a dish of water (it seems he was too weak to drink from the water bottle) and two food dishes.

I am getting my meds tommorrow,so he will soon be on antibiotics!! Plus I am nursing his scratches and wounds with cream.

If you seen the shape he is in,you would be shocked. So now I am doing all I can!!!!

Please keep little ratty in your thoughts!

Thanks!

He looks alot better today. His skin is normal color now, yesterday it was a dark red-pink and well he was obviously drinking, because his dish was empty and the cage was dry,so he didn't knock it over. Also his food dishes were almost empty,so he was eating throughout the night.

I think once I get the meds,he will definatly recover fast.I am not too worried now,as he looks so much better then last night!

I should take some before/after pics!!
