Lice...

My newest boys might have lice.

I was handling them earlier and on one of them I seen tiny white things that were stuck to his hair.I thought it was dandruff, but they are stuck to his hair. They look like nits (lice eggs) and I am pretty sure they are.I checked the other two and don't see them on those guys.

Anyway so I checked them thoroughly, checking through their fur (poor guys were terrified, since they are not used to me yet and here I am parting their fur and poking at them and everything...they were troopers though and put up with it) and I didn't see anything.I dealt with lice a long time ago so I know what to look for.I hate those little things...

Anyway none of the boys are scratching,no scabs,no bugs (that I see) and only one has these white specks. But that doesn't mean they have nothing.I am keeping my eye on them and will probably making a vet visit soon too.Fingers crossed they don't have lice and it is just dandruff or something.

Well if it is lice, then they will all have it.
These three new guys are separated from my other rats anyway. And I may just have them all treated anyway to be safe.

Yeah, Advantage should take care of lice, and 1-2 tube should treat everybody 2-3 times.

well i heard rat lice usually like staying on just one rat even though they might travel around they usually infect one rat more...
but I could be wrong, it's just something I heard while working at the pet shop and god knows they've taught me stupid stuff in the past!
.
I hope they're alright and you can get rid of the lice soon! I hated having lice as a kid! so itchy!
