Monkey has made me very HAPPY :)

I expected an older lady (30 months) to have a bit of a harder time recovering and then healing from her tumor removal yesterday, but I was wrong. After resting for a while, I put her boys Goliath and Talty on the table with her. She brightened up, shoved them happily around for a bit (she’s alpha) and then forgot she had had surgery that day. She started climbing around, and actually running at one point!!! I think she feels light as a feather now, without her “friend” and was making the most of it. Most rats, even the young healthy ones, often snooze off and on the night of their surgery, and the next morning are much better. Monkey didn’t read that instruction book…. You only knew she had had surgery when you saw the big long incision on her side.

I slept on the couch with her last night; she was curled up near me, until 3 am, when I woke up to her bouncing on me. I got up and gave her a smidge of metacam and then crawled to bed.

I lubs my old girl!!!

Goliath found her baby cereal and grabbed on…literally!!! MINE!

And Talty gives us his rumpled bedhead look…

Monkey is sooo happy to be able to get into her litter basket

And the face behind the name…

I'm glad she pulled through! Now she can run up to all the other rats and have them look at her battle scars.

On a side note, the picture of Talty is really cute.

Tonka was her daughter, that pair were my special rats right now. I was worried Monkey would be upset that she is gone, but she always loves life no matter what it throws at her

Glad that all turned out ok. I know who it is when a pet goes threw sugery and you take them home and the fear before hand as well. I was a reck when I got my female cat fixed she did not take to the anistetic to well and for 5 days I could not get her to eat or drink unless I forced a little in her mouth. The vet I used was threw the SPCA becuase the cat was a stray that I took in and they said they would help me when they had funding my family vet would have done it but I thought our spca could help us ot at the time.
I finally took her to our family vet and thanksfully i did becuase she had an infection. We think she may have a hernia becuas her stomice is hard and feels as though she is prego and walks like she is. She was checked not to long ago so another vsist is needed.
I'm glad your little one pulled threw and is fabulouse looking afterwards. I'm glad she has not lost any spunk.
