The Mouse Cave

Last night when doing cages,I decided to make a cave for my mice.I put an empty oatmeal box in and covered it with a mound of shredded paper. They can climb ON it and have a little hole to go in and out.

They look like they are having a good time! I love their little ears! I'm really starting to dig mice! Are they much different than rats?

They are too cute, you're so lucky!

It depends really, they are a lot softer!! You can't really give them full room time because they are too fast and easy to lose...anyway that's off topic

Thanks everyone!

Haha,so much for that idea though...this morning,it is all flattened out. They still have the cave and it is still covered, but the mountain is flattened!

Mice are a little different from rats.I always like rats better as they are more interactive with their owners.Mice can be really friendly too,but are not interactive usually (there is always the exception though). They do have their own personalities and all 7 of mine are different.Like rats, they rarely bite...but I do have a territorial mouse who bites alot. The rest of them have never bitten me though and over the years of having mice,I was not bitten much. That being said, they are quicker to bite then rats.

And as mentioned, you cannot exactly free range them in a room. You can free range them on tables,in play pens or bathtubs though. When you have a colony of mice, like I have it is very amusing to watch them and I can sit there and watch them with their funny and cute little antics all day!

Haha. My mice would never let a sleeping mountain lie either. If I gave them a fluffy pile, they'd have it evened out and flattened by morning every time.
