Smile My baby ratties!!!!

Today I picked up a couple more overflowed babies who the guy didn't have room for.
Bentley is absolutely thrilled to be with these little guys again.
Bentley is the one with the black hood and stripe down his back.
Emry and Ralphie are the new ones (:
Emry is the big, light colored one, and almost immediately his nickname, Ratpudge caught on haha.
Ralphie is the small one with brown markings.
Supposedly, Ralphie is Bentley's brother, but he and Emry have the same type of smooth, thin fur opposed to Bentley's feathery, wild coat.
I don't know haha well here they are! ;D

I'm not sure, why do you ask?

um one more question (i hate to bug! haha) do you think i could put a thin layer at the bottom and then a safer bedding on top?

The aromatic oils will still be there, really the only safe wood bedding is aspen cause it doesnt have the oils that cause the URI. I made this mistake with my gerbils and ended up loosing them both. I would just lay papertowel down or shred some paper that doesnt have ink on it.

Your babies are adorable.

But as for the pine...no,a thin layer is not okay.Pine and cedar contain phenols which are toxic to small animals. It is really bad for their lungs.I use aspen, which is a good and safe bedding.

my louna was on pine for 6 weeks at the pet shop as a baby, and she always sneezed, got worse recently and so now I know she's had a upper respiratory infection pretty much her whole life, I'm on the 3rd week of antibiotics to get rid of this thing. Even just a few weeks of exposure can cause damage, if I were you I'd change it ASAP to even just a towel if that's all you have.

Can I ask how old these rats are? They look very small, about 3 weeks old, they don't look old enough to be away from their mother!
The best place for them, would be back with their mother, if they are younger than 6 weeks old. I personally keep my rats until they are 8 weeks old, to ensure that they are well socialized, and until they go through their first molt. Also, what are you feeding them? Just curious!

I was just going to say the same as Tweedle...they look really young so they should probably be on a milk supplement and once they get bigger moved into a bar cage because aquariums usually have bad ventilation.

EDIT-
But they are sooo cute!
Give them some tickles for me!

I think you are in the wrong place buddy.
You are the weirdest cat I ever seen.
Now matter how big or small wierd or normal we or animals may be we can learn to love and get along and love is what makes it all worth wild. Becuase Beautie is in the eye of the beholder an no one is ugly or more prettyer then anything eals we are all equal. There are some ugly people and things but that is becuase man kind makes them this way do to thier actions.

Jesus.... How do I delete a thread?

The guy said he would have to KILL them. A mama rat died a few weeks ago and she had a huge litter, so the guys system has been off balance. He's not the most organized and didn't really count on anything happening.

Bentley was youngest one I got, the new two are already eating rat food and don't really like the formula. so they're fine.

Also, I had just put the bedding in the day I took the photo, and it's already out.

Anyway, they're both doing really well and are happy and healthy.
Thanks everyone though (:
