My mouse is acting weird.

My mouse, Dusty, isnt acting herself.
Shes breathing weird and shes larger than usual. Shes a bit shy, but when i put my hand in to pick her up, she just sits there and she wont move. Shes got a patch of missing hair on her head too. I dont think that Dusty and Willow (my other mouse) are fighting since they have been with each other for over a year. And im kind of worried, what if shes sick?! Plus, my mom wont allow me to take her to the vet.
Anyone know whats wrong? Any help is appreciated

What do you mean she's larger then usual?

Sometimes mice like to groom each other and sometimes they groom so hard that the other mouses hair falls out. If there aren't any scabs where the bald spot is then thats probably what it is.

When was the last time the cage was cleaned? If it's been awhile or the litter is really wet then it could be causing respiratory issues in the mouse. Also what kind of litter do you use?

yeah I was going to say the same thing about the bedding. because i've lost a mouse in the past due to bad bedding. the overgrooming shouldn't be a big issue. maybe throw more toys and stuff in the cage, they could be bored.

I agree with everything said, but I'm concerned about the getting bigger part, respiratory and grooming issues shouldn't cause that. Are we talking about fairly gradual growth over time or sudden growth or swelling?

Yea I was worried about the getting bigger part too that's why I asked.

Some mice get tumors and some mice just get FAT...

I also wanna know what you mean about "getting larger".

If you mean breathing weird,as in labored or raspy breathing, she most likely has a RI (respitory infection). If this is the case, she needs antibiotics to get better.

I changed it like 2 days before i noticed it.
She was fine and her normal size, then a couple of days later she was like 3 times her size, shes eating Nutriphase Mouse and Rat formula
but thanks anyways, shes acting a little more like herself
