Her sides are sticking out slightly but nothing else on her is fat she wont let me touch her so i cant tell if her teets are getting bigger but the fur around her belly seems to be getting slightly thinner

You need to learn patience, first of all. It's Christmas, and many members aren't going to be around the forum today.

Secondly.. mounting is common in the animal kingdom as a sign of dominance. Females mount females, males mount males. It's normal.

Thirdly.. YOU need to check genders. You need to check the gender of the one that will let you touch her, if that one's a she for sure, you probably don't have anything to worry about. What are you feeding them? It's common for older animals to gain weight.. which is why you need to be careful with how much you feed them.

You only feed them ONE a day??

I don't know about mice but I would think that they should have a bowl of food.

Do a google search for "pregnate mice" (sp) and compare pictures.

The lab blocks are huge and they rarely ever eat the whole thing in one day and i offer fresh daily as not to feed them stale food

Uhm, ik the blocks are big but, there's other things that the mice like to eat besides that. My mouse gets a small little bowl of a VARIETY (pumpkin seeds, the block things, sunflower seeds, etc. etc. that comes in the bag) a day...

You put a baby in a crib with an apple and a rabbit. If it eats the rabbit and plays with the apple, I'll buy you a new car.

You said you just bought her, right? Was she housed with males in the pet store? It's possible that you have two females but your new one was pregnant when you bought her.

There's no real way to tell for sure but since the gestation period is so short you should know soon . I would feed her extra protein, stop handling her, and give her plenty of nesting material just in case. Are you able to get a photo? A few members here breed mice so they could probably tell easier .

Good luck!

I agree and also they need more than one lab block a day. My mice always have a mix in their cage. Also in case she is pregnant, you need a nesting area or box like Stephanie said and I would rip up some cotton or toilet paper so they are comfortable. You can feed her a bit of egg if you want, that is very high in protein.

I have bred mice before and could possibly tell you if she is pregnant with pictures (if she is far enough along). Also if you want to take pictures form behind and we could help you determine the gender of the mice.

Also do you have a wheel in the cage? Some mice are just FAT. If they don't get handled enough or a number of different reasons. My little Maya is just really fat.

Keep us updated!

I've always been told sunflower seeds were bad for them and caused weight gain
