i'm not saying you cant I'm saying Its VERY hard on a female to have a litter and its hard to watch someone you love go through that and because you love them you love their babies.

i think its a personal choice if she wants to breed them or not. im very proud of fishy thou for doing research before breeding and even posting on here to learn more. Your new mice are extremely cute. good luck with them.

Whoa guys...don't jump to conclusions. I agree with Jess.
And this member mentioned in another thread she was breeding for snake food. Ya'll ASSumed that she was going to back breed, and I didn't see anywhere where she said she would back breed.

That is a little harsh. I know several feeder breeders who LOVE and do indeed bond with their feeder breeders...even as far as naming them. They even keep them as pets when they retire. Of course not ALL feeder breeders are this way,but there are some who are and assuming someone won't bond with their animals because they plan on breeding for food...wow...close minded much?

To the OP...
I would get at least one more female mouse, that way you won't back breed the girl you have now.

I usually don't do 'me too' posts, and I know we have some very tenderhearted members who will not agree at all, but...I agree very much with this.

I'm sorry I have had both mice and Hamster litters and maybe thats just me. And most research into breeding shows you that colonies help each other

They are very cute and seem to be well handled (not trying to jump to their death out of your hand). Good luck with them. Any reason you wanted black? Or you just like them?

Sorry. i just saw this. (didnt get an email either o.O)

Yes I was surprised how tame they were. The female was a lil jumpy at first but the same day I brought her home she was as tame as the boy. I got the black girl cause she was easiest to catch and when I went to petco later to get a boy there was a black one so i got him cause i thought it would be cool to have black mice idk lol. I now have a total of 6 mice but I don't want to post pictures of them since people get so offended

people get offended cause im a "feeder breeder" someone said earlier in this thread if i wanted to post pictures of my feeder breeders that this isnt the place to do it so i just dont feel comfortable posting anything. all the drama that a few photos caused here makes me not want to post any more pictures. you know?

I understand. Personally I don't have a problem with feeder breeders. I will breed my own feeders some day. There are other members here who have reptiles and there were a few others here who were feeder breeders also, though they haven't posted in awhile.

Maybe if you made a post with pictures of your mice, but don't mention the word feeder in the post,it will be fine? Some people are just highly sensitive when it comes to breeding animals for food.

Well for those of us who love our rats and mice, it is hard to hear someone say, "I love my mice...and I feed their babies to my snake." You know? If someone had a "pet lion" and they said, "I love my girl and boy dog so much and I breed them over and over again so I can I feed their puppies to my pet lion". Lousy analogy, sorry, but I hope you get the idea!
